Today, we’d like to suggest you several books that should be read by every manager:

1. „Break All the Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently” by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman

The book is a research done by more than 80 000 мениджъри. Some of them worked for one of the biggest companies in the world, others have taken key positions in small enterprises. All of them possess great talent.

Nowadays, market situation makes companies have to compete to attract good professionals and also to apply different tactics to keep the best employees. But very often a brand lacks exactly these skills. Buckingham and Coffman explain how a capable manager should recruit the personnel – and they advice the employees to be chosen for their talent rather than for their experience. Moreover, you can get useful information how to determine your expectation for that person – you’d better judge the final result rather that your employee’s steps. Also you can get some tips how to motivate your personnel – the little secret is to encourage their unique skills and strengths and not to look for their weaknesses.

The book aims to show the dependence between employees, productivity, profit, clients’ satisfaction and so on. It’s quite useful because it gives practical advice and it helps you learn how to adapt to your brand niche.

2. „Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies” by James Collins and Jerry Porras

Research is basic for this book, not only experience and opinion. It explains how companies such as 3M, Disney and Sony manage to surpass the single-success case and to build organizations that create and develop successful products. The authors main ideas is to show how two equally strong and successful companies build their positive images in different manners. For example, Johnson & Johnson started with a strong product and after that, the company attracted charismatic leaders. In contrast to them, Sony lacks primary business plan or a key idea and what’s more, its leaders are not so strong and charismatic.

Collins and Porras are really impressed by something they share in the book: an almost cult-like devotion to a "core ideology" or identity, and active indoctrination of employees into "ideologically commitment" to the company.

3. „The One Minute Manager” by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson

If you manage people you just have to read that book. It’s short and simple with a main conclusion that a manager’s personal and professional skills have crucial role for his/hers effectiveness and respect. The book is not one of the latest and it’s a bit sexist but nevertheless it’s one of the best guides for just started managers.

4. „The Daily Drucker: 366 Days of Insight and Motivation for Getting the Right Things Done” by Peter Drucker

Peter Drucker is definitely one of the best experts writing about managing. The book is a useful compilation of what he has written up to now and it’s divided to days which help the reader to understand the leadership and managing themes much easier. „The Daily Drucker” is one of the wisest and practice orientated management books. Drucker shares his opinion about time, innovations, and outsourcing and offers useful tips for every day of the year.

5. „Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service” by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles

„Your customers are satisfied only because they have low expectations and becpuse no one could do it better. But now it’s not enough only to have satisfied clients. If you want prospering business, you need to create Raving Fans". That’s the main advice you’ll get by the book. The book is a useful help for every manager no matter his/ hers business field. It gives good advice how to improve clients’ services for better results. Written as a parable, Raving Fans brilliantly uses the history to teach the reader what a client really wants. And this one of the most important questions for a manager.
