Added on: 12/05/2010 In Web design , Inspiration , Trends , Identity

5. Large photos and images

Like enormous logos and headers, the usage of large photos and images aims to attract users’ attention and to remain a visual trace in their memory. Oversized images have great visual effect over users’ consciousness. In contrast to big logos and headers, large images are not part of web site branding elements. Yet, they tickle users’ fancy and incite them to take a closer look at the image (if not because of their content, at least for their extraordinary size.

Main idea: Large photos and images can be used to incite users to surf through the entire website.

6. Change of the perspective

No doubt, you have noticed that most websites lack perspective. However, in 2010 we’ll see a noticeable change – a current trend requires change of the perspective to a more realistic view.

Main idea: Changing perspective designers will have the chance to give users the feeling of new website dimension.

7. Interactivity /Intuitive design

A few years ago, the chance to visit a website that has NOT twinkling and spinning flash interface was almost zero. Nowadays flash is used much more professionally with creative purposes. Although some designers prefer to use JQuery for different forms ad pop-ups flash remains a leader in its field. After all, there is no other technology that can rival its interactivity. In 2010 web designers will use wisely different flash elements. And because the average Internet user is experienced enough, designers will strive to create more intuitive web designs that before.

Main idea: Interactive design is back to make a web site amusing and able to keep its visitors as much as possible.

8. Modal boxes

Modal boxes are becoming very popular and used in contemporary design. A modal box can be defined as a pop-up older and finer brother – a modal box is stylish, good-looking and popular. Modal boxes are easy to design and even easier to use which makes them a perfect solution especially when a usability is a priority.

Main idea: Modal boxes will become very common during this year.

9. Minimalism

Forget about the old generation of minimal websites. This year’s websites will have plenty of free white space but will also impress with a brave typography and fresh colour schemes. Not all minimal websites will be influenced by the simple black-white colour scheme and will show off with beautiful colours.

Main idea: Minimalism will venture into typology.
